Resurrecting Lives Opens the Walter F. Fyda Memorial Lead Employment Office

Today, March 16, Resurrecting Lives opened the Walter F. Fyda Memorial Lead Office in conjunction with Traumatic Brain Injury Awareness Month to help our Hero’s with TBI find meaningful employment. The dedication ceremony was held at the Ohio National Guard Armory, who also provided the Honor Guard. The new office is located at located at 131 N Main St, Room J, Marysville, Ohio 43040.

The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Rolly Rausch, Post Adjutant of American Legion Post #79.

Speakers at the event included Major General John Harris Jr, Assistant Adjutant General for the Ohio Army National Guard and John Gore, Mayor, Marysville Ohio. The featured speaker was Jim Jordan, US Congressman, Ohio 4th Congressional District.

During the dedication ceremony, Major General John Harris Jr. presented, Dr. Chrisanne Gordon the Ohio Commendation Medal, for all of the outstanding work she has done with our veterans in Ohio and the nation. Mayor John Gore, presented the Mayor’s Commendation to Dr. Gordon for all of her excellent work in the community and nation.

We dedicated the lead office of The Resurrecting Lives Foundation to a great patriot, philanthropist, & businessman WALTER F. FYDA.

Dr. Chrisanne Gordon, founder of The Resurrecting Lives Foundation fondly remembers Mr. Fyda’s contribution to the entire Youngstown, Ohio, Community, and especially to Cardinal Mooney High School from which the Gordon and Fyda families graduated. Without Mr. Fyda’s generous donations to the Cardinal Mooney Speech Team, she would not have been able to develop the public speaking skills required in her current position.

“It is fitting to dedicate our first office to Mr. Fyda. His generous donations to the speech team allowed us to develop our public speaking skills so that we could be the VOICE for those who had lost theirs. Now we can advocate for the 500,000 young Veterans who suffer from Traumatic Brain Injuries as a result of their service to our nation in Iraq and Afghanistan.” – Chrisanne Gordon, MD

Upon returning from active duty with the United States Air Force, Walter F. Fyda founded and incorporated The Fyda White Truck Co. on October 19, 1954. The company started with a staff of six employees who were responsible for selling and servicing White trucks in the Youngstown and Warren, Ohio areas.

Bob Fyda, Walter Fyda’s son, came to work for the company in 1974. After working for three years in all facets of the operations, Bob became President in 1977. Under Bob’s tutelage, the Company expanded to Columbus, Ohio in 1985. Another of Walter’s sons, Tim Fyda, joined the company in 1987 after serving eight years in the Air Force and has served as president of the corporation since 1997.

Mr. Fyda’s greatest accomplishments, however, came not in the trucking service, but in his service to his family; his community; his nation. We remember him today as a driving FORCE for our mission. We are honored to have his legacy for our “lead” office in Marysville.

During the dedication, Tim Fyda, President of Fyda Freightliner and son of Walter F. Fyda was presented the plaque that will hang in the new office in memory of his father. A man who was a great patriot, philanthropist and businessman.

We would also like to thank our employment partners, Joe Toth, of Cardinal Health and Doug Chevington, of Honda who also attended the dedication.
